Euro Demolition & Dismantling was commissioned as principal contractor to carry out the controlled demolition of the clothing factory located in Peterlee, County Durham.
The factory was situated on an industrial estate next to live factories, manufacturers to its north and west sides, residential areas to the south and east of the site and a cemetery to the immediate north of the site. The buildings were steel framed, with metal cladding and brickwork construction with castellated beamed flat roof with glazed roof lighting and aluminium cladding dating back to the 1960’s and consisted of the main building and warehouse building.
The scope of the works included CDM co-ordination, demolition and site clearance whilst closely liaising with local authorities at key points in the project. Prior identified asbestos was removed, followed by a soft-strip of the buildings in preparation for the demolition works. Buildings were demolished by mechanical excavators down to the top of slab level and recoverable materials were supplied to our accredited metal merchant.
Subsequent waste was segregated into their various waste streams and again were supplied to our accredited recycling partner, thus ensuring landfill waste was kept to a minimum. The remaining demolition arisings were processed and used to leave the site in a safe, tidy and level state in preparation for re-development.
